Physics of Life Experience for Teachers 2017

The CPLC will host an 8-day workshop series entitled the Physics of Life Experience for Teachers 2017. Taking place from June 14th - June 23rd, our goal is to provide an environment for local high school science teachers to learn about the latest research within the CPLC, network with fellow teachers, and work together with graduate students and postdoctoral researchers to develop lessons that are applicable to their classrooms.

Below is a partial list of activities teachers will experience at POLE 2017:

  • IOlab Wireless Lab System
  • Active Learning Strategies with the Center for the Innovation of Teaching and Learning
  • The power of the Blue Waters supercomputer
  • Attempt the LabEscape Room!
  • And much more!

All participants will receive amenities including a stipend, CPDUs, mileage reimbursment, and meals for participation in this workshop series. The CPLC will also provide funds for classroom materials, and help from our researchers to support lesson implementation in the classroom. Additional funds are available to support communication of lessons developed during this program at national or regional meetings (e.g. ISTA, NSTA, AAPT, or others).
