CPLC 10K Pilot Projects Competition

We have just launched the CPLC 10K Pilot Program . In this program, a student/postdoc in a CPLC lab has to team up with another student/postdoc from a non-CPLC UIUC lab to write a joint one page proposal to request funds up to $10,000 in order to seed a new project. The first competition drew 18 applications representing 16 non-CPLC labs and 9 CPLC-labs.10 finalists were invited to give 10 minutes talks at a special symposium. The titles of 5 winning proposals are below. If the outcome is judged successful, we will continue to run this competition annually.

Nuclear speckle dynamics with super-resolution imaging

Developing small and stable NIR quantum dots for synaptic receptor imaging on live neurons    

Evaluation of the influence of mechanical tension in cell fate for living cells in 3D in vitro microenvironments
